I tend to refer to the Internet as exlcuding email, even though email is dependent on the Net. Which means that I didn’t mention email at all.

It’d be tough without either, but the sheer scope of what’s possible (and what will be possible) using wider Internet services would mean I’d miss it more than ‘simple’ email, whose functionality I could perform in other ways.

All respect to the question, I think “Internet” is too wide to be one item. Narrowing it down, I’d probably say email, though I’d be torn between email and the web in general.

But in your original terms, yes, Internet would be the one I’d miss the most. I love my mobile phone and my ipod and vcr and TV, but they pale into insignificance beside the Net.
