Numerous people have been personally and professionally damaged by the company you owned part of, so either get factual and start going into it or stop covering your ass with fluffy prose and show a bit of shame for your actions.

Or are you seeing this all as a great way to boost your ‘followers’?

On point 7, I’d say it was a bit more complicated than that. I can’t really go into detail, but I feel like I should at least say that “minority shareholder” is only one way to describe him.

On point 3, I have to say I feel a bit personally responsible there! But you did actually have a line manager (Stu, then Susi) and the Tech Digest editors also worked with you. You also had access to both a production editor who took care of freelancers – and me!

However, it’s fair to say that working on a site that needed little input (due to the professional way you ran it) meant that you got less attention than some of the others. So, I can only apologise for that.

In my defence? I was suffering from some of those “systems” you mention myself.

I have been owed money from them since November last year and just last month the publishing company – Freestyle Group – was sold and liquidated. As the bank is owed a lot of money, I’ve been told I am unlikely to get my money, which although not thousands, is still significant enough to me to be bothered about it.

Now the thing is the previous owner of the company has bought Boys Toys and the rest of the magazines from the now dead publishing company and will do the same – wipe the debts and move on.

It’s frustrating to say the least, but the unfortunate risks of being a freelancer – and one of the reasons I no longer am one!
