What were you looking for?May 12th, 2005

Here’s a new section which takes a look at how people may have arrived at my blog via search engines. I’ll pick out some of the more ‘interesting’ search strings that my web server reports throw out.

Of course, this could be self-fulfilling – if I mention the search terms that people were searching for here, then more people will probably land on these articles – and likely be disappointed. As you’ll see, some of the searches are fairly relevant, and some are wildly off the mark.

Here goes…

ring worm: Well, yes, I can see how this one arrived – it’s one of the more popular seaerches, which is why on my page about Van Morrison’s song I also provide nice little affiliate links to medical books. I suspect people searching for ‘ring worm’ are more interested in the creature than the slightly odd song.

chav (haters): It’s a phenomenon indeed, and plenty of people turn up here because of it.

bradford fire is a frequent term, particularly in the past few weeks. After I reprinted an article about a rather ill-advised advertising campaign. It doesn’t give much information about the tragic event itself.

bigclique: Well a few people are still searching for this term, though I suspect it may be Dan, who I had a big argument with over it. And that engine still hasn’t launched.

instasnow: People are still searching for this, in May… I had a nice little link to the site that sold it, but then they stopped selling it. Hmmm. Maybe in about November they’ll resurrect Instasnow.

Two people are searching for one of my old friends, Carol – now, this either Carol herself (don’t we all search for ourselves on the Initernet) or someone who wants to know about her. I did mention her in a long list of names in a post about my old youth group. (Need to fix that image)

A question: is it illegal to look at adult porn on the internet? Depends where you live, and what the content of the porn is.

So there you go – some of the more popular search terms that have brought people to my site recently.
